Govt expects more attacks

More attacks on the government are anticipated in the very near future, Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva said on Thursday.
His statement came a day after police defused one unexploded bomb in Bangkok and two others in Nonthaburi."Many people, including myself, have assessed the situation and decided we'll have to be more cautious over the next two weeks," Mr Abhisit said.He said the perpetrators wanted the attacks to be symbolic, to mark the fourth anniversary of the Sept 19 coup."The political situation has intensified and there are people who do not want to see reconciliation in the country," he said.The first bomb was found under a footbridge outside Santiratwitthayalai school in central Bangkok on Wednesday morning. The other bombs, each weighing around five kilogrammes, were also found - at the Mall's Ngam Wong Wan branch and at the car park of the Public Health Ministry in Nonthaburi province on Wednesday night.Bangkok and Nonthaburi remain under emergency rule following deadly street clashes in April and May during anti-government protests.Deputy Prime Minister Suthep Thaugsuban said he had instructed officials to tighten security again after the three devices were found on Wednesday."This indicates that government's opponents do not want our country to return to normal... emergency rule is necessary to keep peace and order in Bangkok," he added.Puea Thai list MP and red-shirt leader Jatuporn Prompan renewed his...
