Hunt begins for Somali pirates

Armed task force sets sail on security mission

Two Thai navy ships with 351 sailors and 20 special warfare troops on board have set sail for the Gulf of Aden to take part in the hunt for pirates off the coast of Somalia.

The mission marks the first time Thailand has sent forces overseas to protect its own interest.

The HTMS Pattani and HTMS Similan left yesterday with two helicopters lashed to the decks from Chuk Samet port at Chon Buri's Sattahip naval base to join a 28-country effort to police the shipping lanes off the Somali coast, which has become a piracy hotbed.

Soooo.... Admiral Chaiyos says the pirates exist because foreigners are stealing their fish, including Thais, but he is still sending the navy? Its ok to rob these people off their own coast then?

Somalia's fisheries are being plundered by international fishing fleets, then the UN, US and UK pretend this is an unjustified reaction by the Somalis regarding piracy and get everyone to commit navy vessels to exercise this vulgar display of power, to put these people back in "place." The world does have a problem, its the globalists.

Globalist say FISH the Somali waters. You deny these people their means to live, then they turn to piracy so you send navies to obliterate them. Think about that for a second, or how you'd feel with Saudi ships fishing American waters, or Khmer ships fishing Thai waters. Think about it.

Arm conventional vessels and the piracy stops. This is just a stunt by the UN to promote the global nanny state replacing your natural right to defend yourself.

Until now I didn't know that the Royal Thai Navy flag incorporated the old Siamese flag. Looks fantastic.
Blast them out of the waters guys!

Somboon: 'But what I do not get is why the Thai fishing boats are out that far?'

Thais have aggressively depleted their own marine resources, now they are trying to plunder other country's resources.

hope the navy can utilise their recent skill training at Pearl Harbor RIMPAC 2010 - as they never participated in a large scale air, sea simulation exercise.

"The mission marks the first time Thailand has sent forces overseas to protect its own interest".

This is not just a Thai problem and there are numerous country's vessels involved in the international effort to rid the area of piracy. In other words, a team effort. Good hunting!
