Deputy Prime Minister Suthep Thaugsuban has asked Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva to abort his plan to visit teachers in the South due to safety concerns.
Representatives of teachers affected by the southern unrest would instead go to Bangkok to meet with Mr Abhisit and tell him about their problems working in violence-plagued areas, Mr Suthep said yesterday.
Mr Abhisit said on Thursday he might travel to the South to inspect the security situation before leaving for New York to attend the annual session of the United Nations General Assembly from Sept 23 to 25.
