Footbridge project gets a step closer

City Hall's one billion baht "Sky Walk" project to build the first footbridge across the Chao Phraya River will soon be forwarded for the consideration of Bangkok Governor Sukhumbhand Paribatra.

A sketch of the Sky Walk footbridge, presented by City Hall’s Public Works Department, linking Phran Nok pier and Phra Chan pier and located near Wat Maha That.

If they would only put this amount of money into the Thai education system rather than frivolous projects Thailand's children may have a better life in tyhe future.

Why does it need a moving walkway? can people not use their legs for a short distance. Keep it simple... Building a footbridge is lovely...look at the success of the 'wobbly' bridge in London. but why does it need a jogging track and travelator???

One billion baht. May be only 2/3 are to spend on the construction of the bridge. The other 1/3 to go into some ones pockets. Another golden opportunately.

More urgent needs are on more road bridges, extensive BTS and MRT. Bangkok average outdoor and road temp. is +40c. Footbridge will only be used for a few hours early morning and at night. More urgent attention on illegal housing along the river banks and management of assets for tourist attraction.

Sounds like a good idea, but how will they stop the motor bikes using it? Also it will fill up with beggers and those sellers of such fine goods spread out on a sheet!
