Somkid declines promotion to help Thai-Saudi ties

Pol Lt Gen Somkid Boonthanom announced on Wednesday afternoon that he would not accept his promotion to assistant national police chief from chief of Police Region 5.

Pol Lt Gen Somkid is one of five suspects indicted over the disappearance  and presumed death of Saudi businessman Mohammad al-Ruwaili in Thailand 20 years ago.
