SONGKHLA : A gang of mainly Malaysian women has made off with 14 bracelets worth about 100,000 baht from a Hat Yai gold shop, police say.
Saichai Sampantrakul, 36, told police she was alone at the Yin Saeng gold shop yesterday morning when a man and a woman entered and asked to see some gold jewellery in the latest design.
She said the couple were looking at some items when two more women entered the shop and asked to see some ornamental gold from a counter on the other side of the shop.
While she was busy showing the jewellery to the two women, the man slipped behind the counter, grabbed 14 bracelets and ran out, followed by the women.
Mrs Saichai said the 14 50-satang weight bracelets had a combined value of more than 100,000 baht.
Hat Yai police are investigating and looking at footage taken by the closed-circuit cameras installed in the shop.
