Hidden clues help unmask bombers

Police are using science in their bid to thwart makers of explosive devices

Crimebusters say criminals always leave some trace behind. This has been affirmed by the Bomb Data Centre (BDC), which is charged with identifying bomb assemblers from the way they build their devices.

The BDC, based in Yala, is a unit with the Front Operation Centre of the Royal Thai Police.

Its task is to analyse bombs, mostly homemade devices used by criminals and insurgents in the deep South, to help track down their makers.
