CRES end 'unlikely to ease restrictions'

The government decision to dissolve the Centre for the Restoration of the Emergency Situation is unlikely to improve democracy and freedom of expression, critics say.

The centre was disbanded and the emergency decree cancelled at midnight yesterday.

The government said security threats had eased and the emergency decree and the centre were no longer needed.
