Rights lawyer Thongbai Thongpao dies

Celebrated human rights lawyer Thongbai Thongpao, a Magsaysay Award winner in the category of public services and former Bangkok Post contributing writer, died on Monday morning of heart failure. He was 84.

Mr Thongbai, who was also a writer and journalist, died at 6.40am.

Funeral rites are being held today at Sala 4 of Wat Phra Sri Mahathat in Bang Khen. A bathing rite is scheduled for 4pm and evening prayer 6.30pm.
