"Once again, despite negotiation by the field commander of both sides for a cease fire, on 6 February, 2011 [Sunday], at 18:20, Thai armed forces launched a full scale armed aggression against Cambodia, using heavy sophisticated weapons including many 105, 120, 130, 155 artillery shells which were fired into the TEMPLE OF PREAH VIHEAR, a World Heritage [site], the region of TASEM, VEAL INTRY and PHNOM TRAP hill and others. All these areas are well inside Cambodian territory. Thai artillery shells have landed as far as approximately 20 km inside the Cambodian territory.

Reasons behind the fighting with Cambodia is not about Preah Vihear, but some analysts say hawkish Thai generals and nationalist allies may be trying to topple Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva's government or create a pretext to stage another coup and cancel elections expected this year.

Let just hope that no more Thais will be killed.

    To Discussion 5,

Bcoz in Thai language any word the ended by Ro "Khmer" & Lo "Khmer" will convert to Lo "Khmer". However, the name Phreah Vihea(r) has ended by Ro. Therefore, in Thai must pronounce Phra Viha(rn). As for Bangkok is a name of lake which has a type of grasses (call KAK) grew in (but now no more). Thai could not pronounce Beoung Kak because in Thai the 3 types of sound in the language. The sound pronouncing Bangkok is the 2nd sound which is a woman speaking sound.

I think Cambodian govt will say "OK" and "Welcome" and continue bilateral talks, unless there is the third party involve acting as mediator or coordinator to be witneses during negotionation.

It is good method and trensparency for both side--Cambodia and Thailand.
Cambodian govt calls for such method many times, but Thai govt refuses serval times as well, a long with military pressure on Cambodia in every talk.

Thus, think altogether, who want to prolong dispute--Cambodia or Thai?

The Cambodians show no respect to the Prah Viharn by basing military on its grounds and then they complain that the temple is being damaged. While our Thai troops have military targets the Cambodians target schools and civilians.

It is good to fight at UN and ASEAN! Bilateral framework is dead.
    Don't fight at the border.

Why Thailand want biliteral talks & Why Cambodia want international level talks

    1-Thailand side:
-Thai have no legal instruments to prove and support its claims against Cambodia
-Thailand is bigger & richer than Cambodia, so she is afraid of loosing face becos Thai know
thet international bodies will not support her if the formal talk really happen
-The dispute at Preah Vihear is an old thing--it happened once already in 1954-1962, the
internatiol body ICJ have aleady settled the conflict and Thai have already accepted
-Thai want biliteral talk becos she thinks that she could presure on Cambodia to share something
with her by using forces--to share surounding land, share managment on Cambodian Preah Vihear,
share mineral in the sea of Cambodian at Koh Kong etc.
