Govt MPs oppose listing of P.Vihear

A total of 120 MPs of the Democrat Party and its coalition partners on Wednesday afternoon submitted a letter to House Speaker Chai Chidchob calling on him to ask Unesco to put the listing of Preah Vihear temple as a world heritage site on hold.

The letter was accepted by Deputy House Speaker Col Apiwon Wiriyachai.

MP Atthaporn Ponbutr said he and his colleagues oppose the listing of the ancient temple because the area around it is still in dispute and the scene of clashes between Thai and Cambodian troops from Feb 4 to 7 that caused death and injuriy to soldiers and civilians of both sides.

PATRIOTIC CRIES from THE KHMERS & THIAS:

A Khmer Major General, Srey Deok said…
"Thais and Khmers had agreed that soldiers would not fire at each other"
"My troop remains at Preah Vihear and the surrounding areas"

A Thai commander, Lieutenant-General Wiboonsak told the press...
"The meeting has not made much progress"
"Thailand had no plans to remove any of the heavy weaponry"

All of this due to the three-month long dispute over an Ancient site, it led to war and solders Fight... it's a brief story of the Khmer and Thais.

Thai and Khmer Government blame each other for the aggression...
Neither Thais nor Khmers claimed they want war,
But the "Stand Off" only kills the innocents and the poor.
The Politician's war will never end, due to greed from the 2 governments.
The Khmers said "This is mine, it’s my Ancestors from an Ancient time"
The Thais said "It was mine once up on a time and it will be mine if I win"
But whole world knows someone lies with "Aggression."
While Politicians talks in the city, Soldiers the one who dies for the Country...
They aimed to win in the defense of an ancient site, a piece of history,
It is recognized by the World Heritage community.
And Villagers sob over their innocents and the peaceful life,
Their Farmland has been compromised, due to Politicians greed from both sides.

Then there are the “PATRIOTIC” cries.
it loud and clears from Khmers and Thais...
We are soldiers and we must answer the Country’s calls,
We are from the same Nation; as soldiers we must think as one.
Death might be calling our names, if we die there is no one to be blamed.
We are soldiers, we will answer the call whether shine or rain,
We will be there to defend our country with fain.
Even if we die, we will be remembered as Heroes in the "Hall Of Fame."
The defense of Preh Vichear is RIGHTULLY YOURS and MINE,
This is the HEART OF A SOLDER and the DEFENDER'S MIND.

Hey there Politicians!! Why CAN’T you do the good deed for All Citizens?
NOT just for Politicians and the Rich in the city, but also for the Peasants and their families.
We can co-exits for the goodness sake of Humanity and neighboring countries

The claimed that French made mistake on the map were false. If it was, why the French had their flag on Preah Vihear and its surrounding areas and Siamese Prince had to ask French for official tour?
I would like the Abhisit and the Democrats to answer that.

Not French map, French-Siamese maps. Thailand wants to use Thai made map in the 1960s. Siam and Cambodia exist well before 1960s and there were treaties specified boundaries before 1960s. There was also photo showed Siamese Prince visited Preah Vihear with French escort and French flag on the temple in early 20th century.

If the Democrats do not obey the PAD demands, their chance of winning next election is as good as there is life on the Moon. So go figure, the Red shirts are the majority, they are gonna win next election if there's is no monkey business with the election process by the PAD, and military.

Embarrasement!Abhisit and yellow shirt.Non-sense of what you're claiming for Khmer Phrea Vihear and the land around temple.It's all belong to Cambodia.Thailand have alot of smart peolpe and smart politician.Why let all this idiots run the government.This will make Thailand look very bad. Because all this people (Abhisit & pad) turn Thailand into big issues.

Can we see these photos? Are they online anywhere or do we believe what we read as both sides seem to be not telling the truth like kids fighting in a sandbox.

Yes, Prah Vihar should never have been listed before the disputed land areas have been sorted out. Since UNSC supported Thailand UNESCO should do the same.

If using an accurate map instead of the colonial French version UNESCO will have to list Prah Vihar as a world heritage site of Thailand.
