Police told to contain yellow shirts

Deputy Prime Minister Suthep Thaugsuban has ordered police to strictly enforce the law in dealing with stubborn yellow shirt leaders whose protest is blocking traffic near Government House.

Police summoned 10 leaders of the People's Alliance for Democracy on Tuesday to hear charges after the group continued to defy a police order under the Internal Security Act that forbids the use of public roads for its rally.

PAD leaders will be the subject of arrest warrants if they refuse to report to police. They then will be prosecuted under the law once the warrants are issued, Mr Suthep said yesterday.

It's difficult to deal with people who think they've got a divine mission.
One thing that is not often mentioned these days is that the PAD has a deep association with a nation wide popular religious sect/cult, the Santi-Asoke, and that is a bit more difficult to deal with than just a fugitive driven mob.
This 'protest' isn't just about the boarder(s), issue with Cambodia is just an excuse for them to hang out on the street and lambast the government on anything/everything else.

Deputy PM ordered the police to clear the PAD off the protest site or arrest the leaders. Lets see if the police takes the order. If the the police disobey the order given, then the police should be strictly disciplined and the police chief should take the responsibility. In such case as in any country, it means give up his job to another better chief to do the job.

heres a suggestion/ here is the PAD chance to help the country .
why not go to pattanni and demand the insurgents leave there country. go where the real fight is (not bangkok streets)im sure patanni and yala would accept your help there. set up your stage and protest in the the streets there.get some legitimacy and save thai soil in the south. your loosing more that a few rai. if your demands include all of thailand, and your really want to keep others from encroching on thai land. be a real hero

These PAD protesters are just another group of useless people who have no interest in what they are protesting about. They are paid to be there no different than the current group of red protesters. Its always the same with these two groups, a local politician behind them playing the puppeteer in order to get what they want from the government. BP should scrap news about Red and Yellow protesters and call it history.

Abhisit is simply trying to make it appear like he isn't in bed with the PAD before the election, nothing more. There won't be any arrests.

Suthep and the Government have got this one right. They now need to not only "talk the talk", but also "walk the walk".

It is important that they firmly apply the law to control this PAD street protest before it mushrooms into something that may become more difficult to contain.

Maybe the PAD could go build a village out near the border seeing as they are so interested in that area and stay there .Since the UDD seem so star struck with Thaksin and he seems to love them sooo much .Maybe he could could fly them all out to Dubai to live with him .The rest of us could get on with making Thailand the great place it should be .

Yes, they should clear the streets....what more do they want??There is a de facto war situation between Thailand and Cambodia.....so they better stop their nonsense now, immediately. Lets hope the police can -for once- do a decent job; the job they are paid for!
