Border conflict poses more questions than answers

The ceasefire agreement struck between Thailand and Cambodia poses the interesting question of whether it signifies the beginning of the end or the other way around. The ceasefire has been reached "pending" negotiations that many hope will bring a permanent solution to the border conflict.

In other words, the truce agreed to by the two sides with immediate effect on Saturday at the Chong Sa-ngam Pass border crossing in Si Sa Ket province is only a vehicle to achieving something permanent. Opinion may be split as some might wonder if the ceasefire marks the beginning of the end of the longstanding border hostility or whether it is the end of the beginning of the rough negotiations over the bitter border dispute with peaceful resolution from further rounds of talk far from guaranteed.

The fine print in the ceasefire agreement comes across as supporting the latter theory.

Per short, how could it be secured the outside if the inside still have the problems with political and insurgency at the south. PM AV tried very hard to gain his momentum for now but not for long, poor guy.

Cambodian soldiers at the border are not discipline. I don't think so. What happen every time the the fighting broke out, Cambodian troop had captured Thai solders all the time. The Thai side didn't even know some of their own were missing until it came out in the news. Now you tell me who are discipline and who are not. Talking about military superiority, just look what happened during Vietnam war. American used all kind of weapons in the war, but see what happened at the end. Weapon alone is not enough, you have to have the will to fight. It might be easy to start war, but it is not easy to stop war.

"Cambodia recognises Thailand's superior military capability"?
I have doubts about this, If Thailand can't even contain the southern Insurgency...with
    their forest soldiers.
