5 million about 2hrs on the subsidy for Diesel, just shows everyone that Thailand is really concerned

Japanese doctors and medical assistance I am sure would be provided to anyone be it Thai, Japanese or others.

Sending 35 Thai doctors to only treat Thais is truly shameful and causing loss of face to all Thais. With the 5 million baht donation, it is better not to give and this again will bring shame to Thai people.

Hopefully all donations through the Krung Thai bank account would be totally used to help the Japanese in distress. Hope the donation usage is transparent.

"By going there just to help the Thais sounds too selfish and pointless."

Agreed, but doesn't it also sound very Thai style!

D2: "thais lose face, but they will never lose shame". Not true in the case of my Thai relatives and staff. All felt ashamed at how fast news of a paltry 5 million Baht had been publicised; they also felt all decent Thais had lost face thereby. The conversation then turned to the recent much-publicised billion Baht dinner held in Bangkok. I cannot repeat what they thought about that here using polite words!

D3: 5 million is just the INITIAL financial aid. It is understandable that a large sum of money can't be approve right away. It isn't that easy to let a 200 million bill thru, especially when the 'hounds' are always trying to fault the government.

    - 35 Doctors : It doesn't make sense that they would go just to help the Thais. I hope the author of this article didn't fully clarify the doctor's duty. By going there just to help the Thais sounds too selfish and pointless.

    D5: A couple of definitions...
Good Samaritan - a charitable person who rescues or helps out a needy stranger.
Fool - a person who is soon parted from his money.

  • Discussion 5 : 13/03/2011 at 01:06 PM5

Good Samaritan just send money and don't worry how they are going to spent. If you worry about it don't send.

Meanwhile people in Thailand are getting ready to scam and syphon off large amounts of any donations as is customary in corrupt Thailand as was a great percentage of the aid that was sent to them I would advise anyone who is considering donating to contact international aid organisations and give directly to them.

    Shame shame shame
typical 5 million baht and a few dogs lol
100 million spent on a park in bangkok
    thais are useless

35 doctors from the Public Health Ministry were on standby to travel to Japan to help treat any Thai people injured in the earthquake??? selfish selfish selfish, but this is the thai smile. i seem to recall the world sent a lot of help for thai's during their time of crisis in the tsunami, not just taking care of their own. and sending 5 million baht? what wonderful and thoughtful people. you would have looked less cheap and saved your face by sending nothing, nobody. thais lose face, but they will never lose shame.
