Topless teenage revellers fined B500 for obscenity

Three teenage girls, who danced topless before a crowd of Songkran revellers, said they did it purely out of fun, according to police.

The three surrendered to police last night, said Metropolitan Police Division 6 chief Suwat Jaengyotsuk.

My compliments to Bangkok Post for being ready to highlight the farcical hypocrisy of what's going on here with the before/after illustrations from the culture ministry's website.

"Or maybe we have to buy bras to cover up the Nang Ngueak and Peesua Samut sculptures to prevent obscenity," said the Culture Minister. Trouble is, in today's topsey-turvey Thailand, we have absolutely no idea whether he's joking.....

So how much will the Culture Ministry be fined for destroying our moral values and when will their website be shut down for it's pornographic content? Well the answer is it's not pornographic and they shouldn't be fined. The same with the young girls but then this is Thailand where double standards of all kinds run rampant.
