Government to pull out of WHC

PLEAS TO DELAY TABLING CAMBODIAN TEMPLE PLAN IGNORED

The government says it will withdraw from the World Heritage Convention after a disappointing decision by its secretariat last night to advance Cambodia's management plan for the Preah Vihear temple.

The centre decided yesterday to advance Cambodia's plan to a meeting today of the WHC in Paris, despite Thai lobbying to have the plan delayed until border demarcation work with Cambodia is complete.

Earlier, Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva expressed hope the centre would delay forwarding the plan as an agenda item.

Thailand does not need to pull from the WHC. The Problem is that the Thai delegation members are unprofessional and unfriedly to the WHC members in Paris. Also, they should not make up stories and lies to the WHC members. They should tell the truth and being frank to them. They should not act as the street gangsters; they should act as very educated and professional human creatures.

Nice one, Ivyking d58. Particularly incisive considering you're sending it from the US. Nationalists are generally more effective in their own countries. Maybe you should go back to yours? Sounds like you'd be well qualified for a role in politics.

Oh, please you guys don't take it serious. Wait till next few days and you will hear PM Abhisit say: You all misunderstood his comment or the medias quoted Mr. Suwit out of context. We didn't say we quite, we only say we consider to quite WHC or UNESSCO if the dinner that we gave them few days ago become useless.

Thai government should be careful that it represent the majority view of the Thai people, not the PAD. More is at stake if we are going forward and be global player or even ASEAN regional player. We cannot go backward. The only way is to go forward.

The WHC of UNESCO in Paris has to decide on 37 projects.

One of those 37 projects seems to cause more trouble than the 36 other ones.
