Wait for high speed trains this will be a daily occurrence but more deadly.

It's been a full 36 hours since this story broke and there has been no update or details.19 Thais and 23 foreigners injured. From what countries? What is the extent of the injuries? How are they progressing? Please tell me there will be more!

I think most train tracks do have guard rails and signals. Thais need more education on proper driving techniques, such as not obstructing intersections / train tracks when cars infront are not moving, this is such a typical problem that causes traffic jams.

A perfect example can be seen at Yaomarat intersection where a train track runs through, many times people are parked on top of the tracks waiting for the light in front to change.

    respond to Discussion 1.

you are right. Guard rail or signal or even overpass should be deployed. But even in the US, this thing still could happen. In Long Island, NY, it is monthly event for the Long Island Railroad.

I don't know why the train travelling south has to go so far north as Ratchaburi before heading down.

Heaven help us when they have high speed trains unless they improve the general safety around the lines too. Can imagine fast approaching trains ploughing into oblivious farmers crossing the lines with their pickups or livestock.

Thankfully nobody was killed. At least the trains remain relatively safer than the coaches and vans, probably due to their speed (or rather lack of it).

It is becoming like 3rd world country where cars, bus and trucks tried to outrun a train at crossings. Its better they spend some money building trains overhead crossings so no one need to wait for train to pass before crossing. Thailand need to invest in safer infrastuture rather than buying 2nd hand submarine for tourist.
