@johnb - did you not forget it was Thaksin who called on his supporters to come out and protest after the coup, he set up weekly video call-ins in every province and spoke with his people. When the UDD turn violent and out of control, he quickly dissapeared from the face of Thailand and stop all his video conferences. The army is just enforcing the law which the imcompetent police refuse to do.

The "hero" and "defender of democracy"...wasn't that the same guy, who "advised" the people of Thailand to vote for "the good people"? I don't know, but an army general who urges the population to vote for (or rather NOT vote for...because we all know what he meant, don't we?!) certain candidates...well..not my definition of democracy!

Let's not forget that the violence of last year wasn't necessary. Abhisit had already offered the UDD an early election, but the hardcore Redshirt leaders turned him down, preferring instead to put armed thugs on the streets. Now they have the gall to try and blame the military for the fall-out. Fortunately, not all Thais are taken in by their breathtaking arrogance.

As we all witness that police failed to perform their duty during riot last year, and the soldier stepped in and got the blame. Shame on all Thai's policemen.

The decision as to who is really guilty should remain with the courts and not with all the many people who already know the answer even though they have only the most superficial "facts"

@android. 'Adolf Hitler was also praised as a hero by the Germans when he was in power.' Yes, and now Thaksin. People blindly idolize him and believe he is a hero and that he cares about them. NO WAY. He only cares about money and power.

johnb Discussion 8 : You seem to have forgot about the video phone-ins by TS displayed at red protest sites and the thousands of red shirts running around with his name on their shirts and the posters of him and the payments being made etc etc etc john; are you stating that he had nothing to do with the protests and that it was just a co-incidence they started just weeks after TS money was confiscated?

'Thaksin Shinawatra's call - in an interview abroad - for commanders of the armed forces and the country's leader at the time to take responsibility for the 91 deaths.' This made me angry; imagine how angry Thai people must be. Thaksin's idea of reconciliation ? Give me my money and passport back, clear me of all charges and make me leader.

Prayuth has been the only barrier between a civilized society and absolute terror and anarchy by the red thugs. And Thaksin is the last person in the world to voice any comments . Especially not with his responsibility and financing of that terror!!
