Last month an Abac Poll revealed that 64% of Thais think corruption is acceptable if the country or themselves benefit in some way from the corrupt schemes. Of greater alarm is the fact that 70% of youngsters under 20 endorse this view.
With corruption having become so endemic and deeply rooted in society, it should come as no surprise that social acceptance of corruption and cheating is spreading to the younger age group every day.
This worrying situation was confirmed yesterday by the Health Systems Research Institute. Its survey of children's emotional and moral health compared to a decade ago showed that more children in the 10-14 age group feel it is okay to cheat or bribe "when necessary", such as to pass exams or win at games.

Discussion 17, Even if your students want to learn, many suffer from iodine deficiency and has limited capacity to learn new skills after the age of 7. This cause the national IQ to below 95. Compared with China, Korea and japans 105.

Corruption also refers to the corruption of power which is why we had the coup, that too was a corruption of power. So too was seizing of govt control in 2009. Now we have a new govt who are led by a master of it, we have seen intense abuse and corruption of power in the past 2 months but apparently it has been democratically approved! Evidently the majority of Thais favor this, so we have to live with it.

I taught in Thailand for five years and finally stopped. Most western teachers will tell you, teaching in Thailand is a waste of our time, as most Thai kids don't study and don't learn. The majority of Thai kids are incredibly lazy, feel that cheating is better to do than to really learn and, consequently, most Thai kids don't have a chance of competing with American, European, Japanese or Korean kids of the same age. If this continues, Thailand will fall further and further behind, and the rest of the world will think Thais are stupid. And that's not true. Thais are not stupid, but the majority are lazy and prefer to take the easy way out. If they can pay someone or cheat on exams so they get good grades they will. The odd thing is, the only person they're hurting is themselves. Thailand will never catch up to the rest of Asia while cheating is acceptable in schools and when, if a kid fails, the Thai school CHANGES the grade. I love Thailand, but if I was forced to teach here again I'd shoot myself. :)

Thailand is corrupt because its lawmakers are lawbreakers, its law enforcers are lawbreakers, too many of its people are lawbreakers and bride money buys impunity. No accountability, no responsibility and no morals. Buddhism is being replaced by Bahtism. Corruption is an interwoven part of Thai culture that the whole world is starting to recognize. But, hey, “mai pen rai”, right?

No never need to carry anything when you are out of your house. You only need to have money because only money is able to move you anywhere in Thailand.

Just like Singapore, Thailand was corruption free for 2 years under AV. Unlike Taksin who never pay tax, AV never cheat.

There is no aspect of Thai society that isn't touched by the scourge of corruption. It is so ingrained in the Thai psyche that I seriously doubt whether it can ever be eradicated. To wipe out corruption means you have to find a department that itself is ultra-clean. An impossible dream, in my opinion.

People voted for corruption when they put Thaksin back in . When AV was in power, there was ZERO corruption. Now that Thaksin is back, corruption has returned to full swing. This only proof one thing. You cannot have Thaksin without corruption. These two goes together hand in hand.

People voted for corruptionwhen they put Thaksin back in .They pay corruption to get into schools. They pay it to get out of trouble. They pay it to avoid being accountable . .Cheat lie and steal from each other and then think going to the temple will erase all their sins . You think it has no effect but just look at the state of the country . I think its having plenty of effect .Keep messing in your bed Thailand and soon you will sleep in your own mess .

The CCTV scandle is not corruption. Even if it is, the ex-governor could at most gain a few million Baht (if proven true). This is no crime, if you consider how much tax Thaksin refuse to pay when he sold his share in SHIn corp; BILLIONS. I know that some of you may argue that stock market transection is tax free, but he was the PM, so he should lead by example, and pay tax although not compulsary. Hence he should go to jail for avoiding tax.
