Almost 200 factories including the plants of leading Japanese car manufacturer Honda and major electronics makers in Ayutthaya have been forced to close and evacuate workers.

Rojana Industrial Park where the factories are located was completely inundated last night despite hectic attempts to increase the height of the surrounding dyke to 6.5 metres.
