PM: Diverting water to east

Efforts will be made to divert as much water as possible to the eastern part of Bangkok and drain it into the sea, Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra said on Thursday.

Ms Yingluck said this during a meeting with water management experts including former Bangkok governor Bhichit Rattakul, Science and Technology Minister Plodprasop Surasawadi, and Royal Irrigation Department chief Chalit Damrongsak.

The prime minister said all watergates should be opened and shut periodically as needed to regulate water flows in an easterly direction to drain water out through the various canals.

She said the floodwalls surrounding Bangkok would only help deter the flood torrent.

Floodwaters had not yet reached the Tha Chin River because it is on a higher ground. Therefore, it was necessary to quickly drain water out to the East, she said.

People blaming flooding problem on present government are just dumb Thai buffaloes. Yingluck government has just entered office for just a few months, if she's on for a year and flooding occur then there's no doubt you can blame her government for this. Just 3 months into office and you expect PM to say "Ok, let's prevent flooding problem in Thailand RIGHT NOW" ??? You can dream on, no one whom becomes PM will ever do that when they just entered office, including abhisit of course.

The flooding problem, if were to blamed, should be blamed on Ahbisit government. WHAT HAS ABHISIT DONE TO SOLVE FLOODING PROBLEM DURING HIS MORE THAN ONE YEAR TERM? The answer is LOL.

So you people should stop blaming Yingluck, yes her leadership is questionable, but if you're buffaloes enough to think that a business leader would portray great leadership in politics in a such a short period of time, then your IQ is really hopeless. So you asked, who to point finger to? Well, the blame should be on those so called "disaster experts" who gives advice to Yingluck, they're the ultimate buffaloes of Thailand. If you want to point fingers, point at them.

Obama's standard procedure is to claim all good things for himself, while blaming all the bad things on Bush. I think PTP is operating out of the same political playbook.

Now Madam PM ask for all partys to co operate with the flooding,, Hope no party go in that trap! Who PTP party will blame after this disaster then??? And did the Democrats party get any time on the state run television cannel??

Khun Mitrapaap #1, whatever was happening in BKK, is no match for gigantic volume of water being released from the dam system up north. BKK can be as dry as a desert and it would make absolutely no differences, given the amount of water coming its way.

To mitrapaap! You try to blame the govenor of Bangkok for this disaster. Who is the PM of Thailand? Who to deside what to do, Have the last word to say? The govenor of BKK or Yingleak of leadership?

In the interest of reconciliation, it would be nice to see the red army move down from one of their strongholds in Chiang Mai to work side by side with the army to help alleviate this
    catastrophe.

Disc 3 - mitrapaap is correct and you are very misinformed. The levels of all dams was much higher this year since may and no worthwhile discharge was made until August when the dams were 60% full. This monumental miscalculation, or plan, has nothing to do with the present government as the decision was made by the previous administration. It does however have everything to do with the catastrophic flooding in Thailand. See the chart.

You are correct about one thing the government had plenty of warning to drain reservoirs and open sluice gates early but unfortunately the previous Democrat administration took no action.

When ptp came to power,Their first priorety was too get Thaksin back, worked 1 month with that.. second, bail out The Red Thugs from jail,Planning the coming flood and prevent it was not on their mind. Pherhaps Madam PM has been visit her brother in Dubai too long?? Wonder what all the voulenteers gets as rewards?? Might they get 300 bath pr day they helping put sandbags around the country, Is that not the minimum wage? For sure i know what The Red Leaders got as reward, Those who tell their supporters to burn down Bkk, used M79 against peopel, invade hospitals Kill soldiers, Yes they are now member of Parliment and some in The cabinet! Wonder what posision Arisman get when he come back, was he one of them who arrange a football match in Cambodia? Might sportsminister????
