Army push to save two industrial estates

The army says it is doing its best to protect two more industrial estates in eastern Bangkok which are under threat of flooding, but can give no promises.

Its previous fights to save seven industrial estates in Ayutthaya and Pathum Thani failed.

Army chief Prayuth Chan-ocha said yesterday he could not guarantee Lat Krabang and Bang Chan industrial estates, the latest focus of the army's concern, would be completely safe but the army was doing its best.

From what my mother in Thailand told me, the Military knew in advance of what was about to happen, and reacted with extreme efficiency from the day-one, without any orders from the Govt. I only wish that the Govt bureaucrats in charge of the dams up north would do the same thing and possibly risk losing their careers in the process.

Thai army is the executive arm of the government, of course they have to perform their flood relief duties under instruction by the government. There is no point for the general to make his unnecessary defense on his assigned task.

The Army does a good job with no weapons even if the government does not like it.
