D15@bkkyo - Better safe than sorry. Try เข้าเถื่อนอย่าลืมพร้า or (f)kao (l)teuan (l)yah (-)leum (h)prah which apparently is an expression meaning simlar to "better safe than sorry" but is roughly translated as "enter the forest donot forget the jungle knife" Good Luck

It's now official that come tomorrow mid-afternoon all districts will be thoroughly flooded with sunlight, and only some with water. Thus, I recommend using sunblock (the only item left on the store shelves).

as most forists here do not believe anyhow in what the government or the governor predicts where is the sense in asking which districts will be flooded and which not.
As bangkokbob says 'be prepared'. My house (in a not flood-prone area) is 50cm above street level but despite that I had a wall built behind the entrance to the street another 50cm high, so with not more than 1 m flooding I will be ok. My Thai neighbours think I am crazy because 'there was never a flood problem in this area!' BTW Idea for the add wall was from my Thai wife and if it was unnecessary I will have it torn down and not cry about the add cost. 'Better safe than sorry' - but am afraid that can't be translated into Thai. Tonight I will sleep a little better - definitive.

"As the person in charge of Bangkok,.."

Why is it that Sukhumbhand needs to keep reminding us that he is the governor and that he is in charge? Nobody is asking him to vacate his seat of power. Nobody is even stopping him from his craving for publicity and even his "show" with Yanni.

What really matters is that he does not keep flip flopping on the messages, talk straight to the point, cooperate with the government and work hard. Bangkok is part of Thailand, not the other way around.

As the person in charge of Bangkok, I believe that the water will not flood every district of Bangkok and some districts might not be inundated," MR Sukhumbhand said.
That what I read, the Governor did not say that the water will flood every district, many people has not seen the 'not', I can understand some brains and eyes can get wet with the flood...5555

clearly the word "not" was dropped from the story during the editing. you can't blame that on the governor.

people need to stop demanding to know exactly which districts will flood and by how many centimeters. neither the PM nor the governor can know any of that with certainty. they are giving you their best guess based on the situation at the moment. and the situation is always changing. the best thing is to just be prepared.

The Bangkok Governor is reported as saying :
Not all districts in the capital will be flooded ....
I believe that the water will flood every district of Bangkok .....
... some districts might not be inundated....

What is wrong with this picture?
Either he is very confused or this is very poor reporting !

"I believe that the water will flood every district of Bangkok and some districts might not be inundated"

    Let's hope it's a misquote.

Ok, Mr. Governor. Keep your words until tomorrow.
