More areas at risk due to lack of organisation

With the city centre, Suvarnabhumi airport and two industrial estates at risk, officials have been racing against the clock to drain water out of the eastern part of Bangkok through the city's canal system.

However, a lack of coordination between water management officials at both the city and national level has probably put more areas in danger.

In a worst-case scenario, the only option to solve the crisis would be to let the water drain through floodways _ which are not regulated by gates or pumps _ resulting in no control over the flow.

I don't think this is the time for party political comment. Pheu Thai & Yingluck have been democratically elected to govern, for this term of parliament. So why not show a bit of empathy for the 520 plus, of your fellow citizens who have perished due to this natural disaster, most of whom do not live in elitist Krungteb enclaves. Your PM deserves encouragement, the past 3 months would have tested any world leader and to deny her the opportunity to meet regional leaders at the APEC summit, was an embarrassment to all Thais.

What are you talking about you are being given mandate to run the country? Yingluck, you are simply not fit and capable to run the country. Your Pheu Thai became the government is because of the unrealistic populist policies, which I supposed could never come to light due to the budget constrain. Please do not be so thick-skinned by saying you are the prime minister by the peoples' mandate.

discussion 7, the point is not the flood - that can't be blamed on anybody. But a lack of experience and leadership ability can be placed directly on Yingluck.

If you can't lead the country you need to step down and make way for someone who can. There is no excuse - especially when both main political parties have had the ability for well over a decade to prepare for these floods - a constantly reoccurring crisis. Similarly, agency heads that cannot do their jobs need to step down. But who wants to bet everyone digs their claws in deeper instead? In fact, I'm willing to bet a great deal of the unraveling response by PTP is due to them managing the political fallout instead of the technical issues of facing the disaster.

Musashi D 24 : Ehmm...excuse me,but who was it who continually attacked our security-forces,radio-stations and even AV before Rachaprasong ?
And who rejected AV's offer of an early election ?
If we go even further back...who attacked the PAD demonstrators at government house and Parliament with M79 grenades ?
Does Seh Daeng, the red general, leader of the armed wing of UDD,ring a bell ?
And don't get me started on how many people have died during TS's reign because of his authoritarian rule!
    So please,Musashi(and others),remain ignorant if you please.But don't tell those,who are not,to forget.We won't ! Ever !!!

Here's my impersonation of Thai leadership, “It’s OK, Don't worry",”It's OK, Don't worry",”It's OK, Don't worry", Hurry, run for the hills”! I have no defense or sympathy for any Thai politician. They wanted the job, campaigned and were elected (sort of) for the job. If they cannot be held accountable, then who? Those who speak out in defense of certain political figures can do as they like but believe me it’s the people who need defending and compassion. The rich leaders will be just fine, thank you.

I agree with meme discussion 6.Just because her brother gave her a job running his companies hardly qualifies her to to run a country .She knew that taking the job thinking she would just get her brother pardoned quickly and hand it all back to him .This crisis is indeed very hard to handle but Thailand has gone from crisis to crisis the last few years .If you want to play politics become a local MP and learn the ropes before you start commanding a country through a national crisis

I watch with dismay the fights between BMA and FROC. They are like rotten children that can get along. It looks they are all making this flood much worst and more protracted so that all Thais will support the proposal 900 billion baht flood prevention proposal. If the flood was easily handled then the very costly proposal will be shot down before anyone can say "ah lai na?" So Yingluck may appear like a poor little rich girl but she is not stupid. There is a lot of money to be made in the misery of thai people.
