Supoj faces cash probe

Shunted to inactive post after thieves' B1bn claim

Permanent secretary for transport Supoj Saplom has been transferred to an inactive post pending an investigation into a claim that he is unusually wealthy.

The residence of permanent secretary for transport Supoj Saplom in Wang Thonglang district was unusually quiet on Friday following a break-in that has turned Mr Supoj from a victim to a possible suspect in a corruption probe. TAWEECHAI TAWATPAKORN

Mr Supoj alerted the police on Nov 11 that his house had been broken into and 12 million baht was missing.

1 million baht is about 1 kg million if every note is a 1000 baht so 200,000 million are 200 kg maybe more what about 1 billion? Anyway Discussion 3 is right only 12 million missing easy to carry away!

The only person who's story makes any sense is ..... Supoj Saplom ! That's really not much money for a dowry. As for thinking that he lives in a mansion, some of you guys have been "livin' on the cheap" in Thailand for too long.

If they turn out all the govt officials' underwear out, they will all have money hidden. They are all suspicious. Why focus just on one man?

Probably for the first time I agree with EnglishBob.
But why not look at the bright side: there is an investigation of the case, and some media coverage.

Now, when will the 'inactive posts' be eliminated?
How many people are currently in these posts, and how much does it cost the taxpayers?
Is an inactive post related to a position in Bangkok Post?

Disc 52 - it's 3 years or less left on their sentence and over 60.

Life in prison for the corrupted. They are the shame of our nation.

@englishbob #54: You are right, it seems like (almost?) all of them are crooked. I noticed one thing is better now: We have no red-shirt demonstrators occupying Bangkok anymore - that’s something!

@englishbob. '.....we are flogging a dead horse.'

Agree with a sad heart. I post in the hope readers outside of Thailand will get a bigger picture than the one Thaksin presents through his paid lackeys.

Bangkok Post 'The world's window on Thailand'. I am disturbed by BP's recent self imposed censorship.
