Countdowns go off without a hitch

Police pull out all stops to ensure security at large venues

Year-end countdown celebrations to welcome the New Year in Chon Buri and Bangkok went smoothly on the night of Dec 31, with no major incidents reported.

Tens of thousands of partygoers attended the countdown party in Laem Bali Hai in Pattaya beach, Chon Buri. The country's biggest countdown party attracted both Thai revellers and foreign tourists.
