    whatajoke, re D.5,
    No, you misunderstand.
As I wrote: "I am sure that the opinions surveyed are sincere". I was not doubting that the answers given were truly what people think. I am sure that they do accurately reflect people's opinion.

The important point, which you appear not to have understood, is that there are good reasons to think that the honestly stated opinions are wrong, not that people did not honestly state their opinion.

Many people, for example, believe that gods exist, and will honestly say that. It does not follow that that honestly stated believe is true.

On any and every topic where there is censorship or self-censorship, it is logically certain that opinion on that topic is not knowledge, is not balanced, is not well informed, and is therefore of dubious worth. This unhappy consequence follows necessarily from the existence of censorship.

D4 felixqui - I think you are the one misinformed here. These polls are conducted by professional companies with decades of experience in how to ask questions and poll people both anonymously and in a manner that is honestly representative, otherwise no one would use them. These polls are merely an expression of opinion and I think it's doubtful people would express something different for fear of persecution or to satisfy the pollster. They are interesting for determining public opinion, politicians almost certainly pay attention to them, especially the ones they haven't engineered for some publicity, different cmpanies poll results that favor different sides, based mainly on the question.

Thai law and self-censorship being what they are:
    1. How well informed are those opinions?
    2. How well informed could they possibly be?

This is one very practical problem with censorship: it renders largely worthless any opinion on the topic censored. Any worthwhile, well-balanced and well-informed opinion on ANY topic requires free, open discussion on that topic.

I am sure that the opinions surveyed are sincere. It is another matter whether they could be anything more, and sincerity is worth little if unfounded and unbalanced.

The poll revealed, that shy half of the people asked meant, that the 'the most corrupt people group was politicians'! Any plans in store, to correct that?

Most said that he was honest and the others.... are they in jail?

While the Pheu Thai folks at home and abroad will be celebrating the passing of the 2.38 trillion Baht Budget, and will be already choosing their new cars, houses, land, jewels, etc., this Budget may ironically be their downfall. So many examples of corruption will turn up that there may well be a huge ground swell of opposition to the government's corruption that drives them out at the next elections.
