Two street protests greeted the government this week with more to come soon and the government's plan for a two billion baht compensation package for victims of political violence seems to have backfired. But the "talk of the town" is the ear-bashing incident at Suvarnabhumi airport.

Many Bangkok commuters were caught in traffic gridlock as they began their working week on Monday when truckers, bus owners and taxi drivers blocked roads in protest against the government’s decision to raise the pump prices of compressed natural gas (CNG) and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) from Jan 16.
