Terror alert 'asking for trouble'

Govt buying fight with militants, analysts say

The government's handling of the recent terror alert could drag Thailand into conflict with the Hezbollah militant group, analysts said yesterday.

Surachart Bamrungsuk of Chulalongkorn University's political science faculty expressed surprise at the publicity surrounding such a "delicate" and "sensitive" issue.

The operation warranted a much lower profile and suspect Atris Hussein should have been deported immediately after his arrest at Suvarnabhumi Airport last Thursday.

Agree with most of the article. The suspect was rightly held as he was shipping the material
for bomb making is obvious. It is true that the U.S. will embarrass smaller countries
in an effort to get them to submit to their worldview. If you want to read of American
methods read "Killing Hope" by William Blum. These methods have been used over and over again
by U.S. More than 50 major intrusions in sovereign states. Overturning elected governments
and actively supporting coups. Most the info in the book is from freedom of information requests
from CIA documents and quotes from former agents.

Thailand has tie with Iran.Iran supports hezbollah. If Mr. Hussein were a member of Hezabollah and no intention to bomb or kill Thais. He selectively want to kill Americans and Israelis. He already told Thai polices his intention to put the bombs in the portable fans and send out to some other countries. US asked Thai polices to detain Mr.Hezbollah for its own interest. Thailand dosn't give a hoot if Mr.Hussein or Hezbollah want to bomb some other countries as long as it is not in Thailand because it will hurt tourism.

Now Thai analists said Thailand could be drawn into conflict with Hezbollah if the group believes that the Kingdom is collaborating with Israel and USA.If that were the case Thailand concerns of loosing frienship with Hezbollah or Iran. Why not stop having tourists from these two countries to enter Thailand .Set Mr. Hussein free and send the message to the world that Thailand love your money but do not want to help you out to hunt for terrorists.

You've got to be kidding me. Absolutely horrible these people would put their citizens lives, as well as tourists lives, in danger just because they don't have all the "secret" information. As if a warehouse full of bomb making materials and a confession from the suspect isn't enough. Unreal.

"The operation warranted a much lower profile and suspect Atris Hussein should have been deported immediately after his arrest at Suvarnabhumi Airport last Thursday."
By all means, let him go free.
