Thailand inks pact on forced disappearance

The ratification will pave the way for better human rights protection because Thailand has never had a specific law to deal with missing persons cases.

As a result, some officials accused of being involved in disappearances "do not fear punishment because there is no law", said Angkhana Neelaphaijit, chairwoman of the Justice for Peace Foundation.
