Democrats keep up pressure on embattled Nalinee

The Democrat Party has reiterated its call for PM's Office Minister Nalinee Taveesin to resign over alleged business connections with the Zimbabwe regime.

Democrat spokesman Chavanond Intarakomalyasut said Ms Nalinee should step down instead of asking for an opportunity to prove herself.

He said that being sanctioned by the US for her links to President Robert Mugabe was worse than being blacklisted, despite what she claimed.

Winning an election doesn't mean carte blanche to act in an unethical manner.
The Democrats still represent the second biggest sector of Thai society... The sector that is the most productive, educated, profitable and taxable.
Those people who beg for democracy and freedom of speech are quick to forget than the pendulum swings both ways.
Any links with Mugabe should be severed - but this government isn't even embarrassed, it's even defending those links. Shameful.

    jock,

As a verb, you're probably looking for this: "To penalize, especially for violating a moral principle or international law."

"the Democrat Leader fears that the Shinawatra will brings prosperity and make a successful government for Thailand."

I very much doubt they fear that :)

"......being sanctioned by the US for her links..."
Definition of sanction: authorisation, ratifying, or permitting an act or action by others etc.

Could we perhaps mean "censored"? Unfortunate choice of word which means the exact opposite than I believe what was intended.

She is guilty because USA say so.
USA is a well developed country (unlike Burma), so USA will not say that if they have no proof.

this is nothing about Nalinee, but Abhisit VS Shinawatra. the Democrat Leader fears that the Shinawatra will brings prosperity and make a successful government for Thailand. the Dem do its best to bring down this PTP government when the Dem didn't finish its full term. shameful to Abhisit that launched war against one man which is Thaksin Sinawatra.

This appointment is a mistake and allow potential downfall

It would so good if Mr. Abhisit would be more quiet and not to look permanantly for reasons to attack the current the government. First of all, the Americans should not always demonstrate that they are the world police and they can do what they want and the rest has to obey. sencondly Mr. abhisit was happily doing business e.g. with China, Hong Kong. whereby he exacly knows that China is one of the biggest suporters of this terrible Mr. Mugabe he certainly knows too that Mr. Mugabe has residence rights here in HK, his daughter studies here his bodyguards can overstay without to be punished why did Abhisit continue to do business with China, Hong Kong during his time? Is this a consequent attitude?
