DSI raids plant making 'substandard' steel rods

Nationwide scam put lives at risk, it says

The Department of Special Investigation has raided two warehouses and a steel rod plant in Bangkok and Samut Sakhon provinces, accused of producing substandard steel rods for distribution nationwide.

The raids followed many complaints about substandard steel rods, which have been used in the construction industry and pose a threat to public safety, DSI head Tharit Pengdit, and commissioner of the DSI's Bureau of Consumer Protection and Environment Crime, Pol Maj Suriya Singhakamol, said yesterday.
