PM backs Thailand's future at WEF

ON THE WORLD STAGE: Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland

Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra has assured business leaders in Davos, Switzerland that Thailand's economy is strong enough to accommodate investors while the government has embarked on measures to prevent future flood crises and end domestic political disputes.

The premier said investments in Thailand would be well protected by the government's water resource management plan. The government would also foster a positive economic environment for their businesses.

Ms Yingluck on Friday attended the 42nd World Economic Forum (WEF) and presided over a "Thailand Night" held by the government to encourage national and business leaders to attend the World Economic Forum on East Asia in Bangkok between May 30 and June 1.

YS doesn't know much but she would make a REAL PM or President a good First Lady.

Business people at Davos have their own sources and will never base their opinion on the PR/UDD spin and propaganda!

She is doing the right thing at this stage ... luckily the world does not listen to all the doomsayers here . Thailand will raise again as it always did and there is no better place to be in this part of the world, that is just the way it is ;-)

I am very proud that our PM stood confidently in front of the world stage in the WEF to present what our country can give and provide. Well done and Keep it up.

She stood helplessly as central Thailand was engulfed and now promises it wont happen again ? Why are dams higher than last year right now? I predict it will be worse this year .

She did not do enough to stop the floods or help the people and businesses once the floods occured. The compensation to flood victims should have been seamless, but many have not received the 5,000 Baht yet. Many businesses have left the country due to the way she handled the flood, she should also give the businesses tax credit for some relief from the flood.

"As for instability in domestic politics, Ms Yingluck said a landmark election was held last year and that all sectors of Thai society have accepted the results."

It seems to me that the PM's statement that "all sectors of Thai society have accepted the results of last year's election" is for foreign consumption only. Readers of the Bangkok Post know that statement to be less than reality.

This is pretty weak and shallow stuff from a PM on an overseas mission . Short on detail high on spin, totally lacks credibilty in view of the recent crony cabinet reshuffle, shifting of debt to another page and disasterous inept handling of the flood crisis..more smoke and mirrors from the speech writers and advisers who obviously think the world is as gullible as Thaksin's followers...investors will not be rushing to Thailand until some positive action ..actual construction takes place.. rather than re-arranging the deck chairs on the Titanic!
