The Culture Ministry is concerned about young people using the Simsimi artificial intelligence conversation program as it uses impolite and rude words.

Culture Surveillance Bureau chief Ladda Thangsupachai said on Thursday the Simsimi application is popular among smartphone users at this time and many swear words have been used in the chatting bot.Simsimi was created by a South Korean developer for the purpose of language learning but many app users in Thailand had gone too far, Ms Ladda said.She said words that are impolite and profane can be commonly found in the Thai language version. Just another example of a 'holier than thou' big brother wanting to control our lives... What the hell happened to so called freedom of expression and democracy?...If indeed we ever had it.

Bangkok Post headline: "Culture alarmed about simsimi app." ... The Culture Ministry should be a damn sight more alarmed about the law allowing murderer suspects to avoid investigation if they're sitting members of parliament.. Such a law gives them ample time to corrupt or destroy evidence, intimidate witnesses and does nothing to ensure that all men are equal - regardless of status.

The government is not at all concerned about foul language... In fact, its most avid supporters - taxi drivers and farmers - are the most foul-mouthed of all Thais.
The effort to silence Simsimi is driven by the fact that if you ask it about Yingluck or any of the well-known ministers, the answers are amusingly insulting. It is a toy of the middle and upper classes and Peua Thai don't like being on the receiving end of jibes or criticism.

all simsimi or whatever its called needs to do, is just use a disclaimer and advise the end user that there will be material that might not be pleasing to the eye. If the user accepts, then i'm sure they'll be satisfied. I honestly dont c the harm of this when there's much worse going on out there.

Actually, there is no solid evidence that violence on TV or even more extremely violent video games, do any harm to young players or viewers, certainly not that such things actually cause violent behaviour. As is so often the case, the available evidence just does not support, and actively contradicts, the popular based hysteria based solidly on ignorance.

It is a pity the culture minister dose not look at the violence on TV.Sticks and stones will break my bones but calling will not hurt me.It is a good saying. Violence will hurt and the young are seeing to much of it on tv in my opinion.

Just a few years ago, after the 2006 coup, the military-backed campaign was on many radio stations and elsewhere and advertised to Thais NOT to answer the telephone with "HELLO".

They wanted Thai people to answer in Thai: "Sawadee kruhb"; "Sawadee Kha".

I prefer my kids don't cuss of course, but for the sake of avoiding the country becoming a combination of a real-life Orwellian / Kafka novel at some point this Operation Heart and Mind Control has to end.

You cannot make films without having them censor you, nor art, nor books, nor express yourself freely on the internet. You cannot say "Hello" when answering the telephone and now, not use cuss words. Anyway, what are those cuss words? Or would it be a danger to national security if we knew?
