Chuan urges Thaksin to pay victims

Thaksin Shinawatra rather than the people should pay for the government's 7.5 million baht compensation package for each victim of the 2010 political unrest, Democrat chief adviser Chuan Leekpai said on Monday.

Mr Chuan said the compensation proposal had encouraged provincial Islamic committees in five southern border provinces to demand the same amount of money be paid to the families of people killed in insurgent attacks and other incidents since 2004.

He said the government must separate the victims of the two incidents – the violent street protests in Bangkok and the Muslim insurgency in the far south – because the latter was caused by the government’s mishandling of the southern situation ever since the Thaksin administration took office in 2001.

Disc 28 - And Thaksin and the Military both knew that the TRT would once again have a mandate if the election was held. The Military wasn't about to have another round of 5 year budgetary cuts again. That's the reason for the coup that no one seems to want to address.

Disc 18 - Your argument is fine except no Military officer or Politician has ever taken responsibility for giving the order to shoot. In fact they all have categorically denied the order was ever given.

Only in corrupt Thailand could the wrong doers not only not get charged for burning down the city but also elect their leaders to be government where they are rewarded with more money than they would get in a life time .Corruption not only pays here but you get rich .DISGUSTING.

Bula: You sound so stupid - you should go back and re-read the article or ask a person whose English is better than yours to explain to you. By the way, you are on the wrong bloc - go back to your stupid red-shirt thugs camp (cave), or do you still live with your mama, I bet, grow up and find a job.

Disc #24 Bula, an extra-judicial killing occurs when a suspect is killed by without having been given a chance to be arrested and have his case heard before a Court. No probe can condone such killings after the event.

D25-Yes as you finally admit, the red shirts came to Bangkok to 'fight' and were definitely not peaceful protesters as their commentators continually claim.

Discussion 20; you are absolutely right; I have written this several times on this forum. Of course the PR machine of the Great Fugitive has " Serial writers" to give the outside world the impression there is support for what he did and what he is... There is a pattern, they take turns and apparently they must be paid by line they produce...because it can certainly not be for the content or the repulsive tyranny they defend.

You are right , discussion 25; the reds were FIGHTING for freedom....And shooting bullets and grenades. And looting. And killing innocent civilians. And terrorizing the city. And occupying the hospital. And burning 26 buildings.....And being paid for it!!!!
