221 drug convicts to be transferred

An initial batch of 221 convicted drug dealers will be transferred from prisons throughout the country to Khao Bin Central Prison in Ratchaburi province, Corrections Department director-general Suchart Wong-ananchai said on Tuesday.

Pol Col Suchart said a second group of inmates with drug trade connections will remain in their respective prisons, but will be moved to high security cells.Department deputy chief Kobkiat Kasiwat said Khao Bin Central Prison had made preparations to house the 221 drug convicts. Details would not be revealed.
