PM in charge of water management

Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra will be in charge of a new special agency to run a new overall water management system under a resolution approved by the cabinet, deputy government spokeswoman Anuttama Amornviwat said on Tuesday.

Ms Anuttama said the special agency, proposed by the Strategic Committee for Water Resources Management, will be established as a public organisation. It will be headed by a director whose position is equivalent to the permanent secretary of a ministry.

The agency will operate under two committees, both chaired by the prime minister.

The first committee will comprise representatives from all ministries. It will be responsible for formulating policies and oversee the entire water management system in the country.

The other committee will oversee the agency's administration.

Disc 5 - I specifically included the TRT so that it didn't look like I was pointing at only the Democrats. In retrospect I probably should have said "All" preceding governments".

D4: I hope "exactly" the same as you. Let every honest effort by the govt be successful for the benefit of the people. Nevertheless, I would not go so far as TRT or something too old already - even if I am paid or threatened.

I have not posted nearly as many messages as you did (you:2000 vs. me:20), too. I am aware that there are a many veteran BP blogger. I enjoy reading and learning from all the posts! Let's keep it up!

Good or bad, time will tell. At least the YS government is doing something and that's more than can be said of preceding governments including the TRT.

A special agency, overseen by no less than 2 committees comprising repesentatives from all ministeries. Does this strike anyone as another shining example of overkill bureaucrazy?

I assume the main task for the first committee will be, as always, for each ministry to gain as much influence as possible in order to get the largest cut of the cake when the new giant flood relief loans arrive. Or at least a chance to put some otherwise useless sons and daughters in well paid positions.

Her method of management is what worries me.
