Supoj bids for extra time in wealth case

Supoj Saplom insists he is willing to testify before the anti-graft agency over his alleged unusual wealth, but he needs 30 more days to gather financial records to prove his innocence.

The permanent secretary for the Transport Ministry, currently on temporary assignment at the Prime Minister's Office, said yesterday he needed 30 more days to prepare evidence since the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) wanted to see his financial records for the past 20-30 years.

He explained he would have to get the records from several commercial banks, which would take time.

Surely AMLO/NACC would already have copies of all his transaction records? If not, why not? Or does he have "a second set of books" which he has been cooking? If he has assets not recorded for tax purposes, then the law can nail him on tax evasion if nothing else.

BTW D1, he is not a Minister or even a politician, just a so-called "public servant".

4 months later he still can't seem to get all his paperwork in order to prove his wealth...in less than one week i would be able to prove my wealth.

Ahhhhh, he was a consultant working for cash with no financial records. He did'special' jobs since being a university student resulting in millions of cash baht? The police should be investigating his claims, not giving him more time to fabricate financial records.

Thai banks would know nothing about the cash he has accumulated at home...everyone knows you don't keep this kind of money in a bank....its black money. The shadow economy in Thailand has truck loads of money like this. If the ministers status gets him off the charges it just emphasizes the need for judicial reform that continues to work under a feudal mentality...
