Govt MPs file charter change draft

Government MPs led by chief whip Udomdet Rattanasathien on Thursday submitted a draft charter amendment to House Speaker Somsak Kiatsuranont.

The draft, signed by 275 government MPs, seeks to amend Section 291 of the 2007 constitution to make way for the establishment of a constitution drafting assembly comprising 99 members - one member elected in each of the 77 provinces and 22 academics and experts in various fields picked by parliament.

Mr Somsak said the draft and supporting signatures would go through a verification process set by parliamentary procedure.

Hands up anyone who thinks the law abiding reds sought permission in advance to set up stalls.

Hands up anyone who thinks they will clean up when they leave this time.

Reds preach no double standards but "Do as I say not as I do" seems to be their mantra.
