Kittiratt hints at diesel cap

The government may opt to cap diesel prices if it fails to raise the wages of low-income earners, says Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Kittiratt Na-Ranong.

"Low-income earners would be harder hit if diesel prices, which directly relate to product costs and public transport services, are allowed to increase," he said yesterday.

However, Mr Kittiratt said the government is unlikely to cap diesel prices for good as they would return to the going rate once workers' wages rose.

I can't believe the Energy Ministry forecast that crude oil prices will decline in the summer. True demand will decline owing to warmer weather, but, and it is a very big but, there is a much larger risk to supply over the same period posed by the escalating political crisis in the Middle East.

No matter what people say, and correct me if I am wrong, I believe the consumers have always paid for the raising wages or energy prices. Politicians explained things in their favors as they always did in Thailand or elsewhere! Nothing Thai and nothing personal!
