B100m assets seized in drug sweep

Drug suppression officials on Monday seized assets worth nearly 100 million baht suspected to have been acquired illegally and arrested four suspects in a joint operation to sweep up a drug network operating in eastern provinces.

A 300-strong team comprised officers from the Department of Special Investigation (DSI), Region 2 provincial police from Rayong and Chon Buri, Office of the Narcotic Control Board (ONCB), and the Anti-Money Laundering Office (Amlo).

Pol Lt-Gen Panya Mamen, the Region 2 Police chief, said they were armed with arrest warrants for six suspects believed to be members of a drug network led by Krairerk Nakpathom, a major drug convict who has been moved from Rayong Prison to Khao Bin Central Prison in Ratchaburi, and searched three locations in Lampang, two in Rayong, and 22 in Chon Buri.

Hit them where it hurts them most, that is: not where you may suspect it hurts most, but just left and right of that place, in their pockets, wallets.
