DSI inquiry points finger at 11 officials

The Department of Special Investigation has recommended the indictment of 11 Education Ministry officials for alleged corruption in a 32-million-baht notebook procurement project.

Those involved in the case are Kasem Klanying, the president of the Business Organisation of the Office of the Welfare Promotion Commission for Teachers and Educational Personnel, and his 10 board members, DSI director-general Tarit Pengdith said yesterday.

Mr Tarit said the DSI has forwarded its investigation report to the National Anti-Corruption Commission for consideration so the graft agency can indict them on corruption charges.

Tablets bought from China are useless piece of junk that run on outdated andriod systems. Budget for the tablet is better used at buying desktop computers for each school or giving teachers a little raise.

Government has not written any education progrms for the tablet, what do they expect the children to learn? play angry birds? learn to type with one finger?

D1- comment is spot on ; The tablet cost has doubled They now want a super duper tablet not the bare bones version first proposed. Someone upsold these naive politicians very well.

To use the super duper model they need wifi at all schools - 3,300 sites (yum yum).

The overall project cost has tripled. Now we begin to understand why the 350billion was urgent.

    Oink oink.

Minor or not, try them quickly. If found guilty, stick them in jail for a long time.

This notebook curruption issue is minor in comparision to what the tablet computer issue is bound to raise in the near future. An opportunity to get rich on the sale of tablets will not be overlooked and there are those who will be looking hard to see just who does stand to win big.
