Urgent projects allotted B5bn

PM supports retention areas, walls and dykes

The government has approved an additional budget of 5 billion baht to implement 117 urgent water management projects ranging from upstream to downstream areas, Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra said yesterday.

The projects were proposed during the prime minister's one-week tour of flood-prone provinces to ensure the effectiveness of flood-prevention measures this year.

The cabinet will be asked on Tuesday to approve the special budget for the urgent projects.

While we're at it, let's get New Zealand, Denmark, and Finland involved by asking them how they became distinguished as the 3 top 'least corrupt' countries in the world. Is there an international task force that a country can hire to knock out corruption?

Good to see this progress and nice to see that the PM get's Japan involved, but please do not forget to try to get China involved as well, they have a lot of experience with large infrastructure projects and dams and they can get projects done on time.

    Geoffo
More like money was spent for seedlings that are probably not even suited to the area and they will dry out and die on the roadside somewhere .

It's not too much considering the years of neglect.

I know about all the (true) comments about 'corruption' but these projects are what people were calling for as they suffered through the floods.

90 days to reforest 330,000rai. So I guess the seedlings are ready, staff trained and straining to go, water resources are on hand and all obstacles have been cleared away, so ready set go !.
