Four Iranians suspected of involvement in a botched bomb plot targeting Israeli diplomats in Bangkok were members of an exiled Iranian opposition group which wanted the incident to reflect badly on Teheran, Syedsulaiman Husaini, Shia leader of Thailand, said on Sunday.
He claimed the four belonged to the Mujahedin-e Khalq Organisation (also known as MEK, MKO and the People's Mujahedeen Organisation of Iran, or PMOI) which aims to overthrow the current Iranian government.
The MEK has been on the US Department of State’s list of foreign terrorist organisations since 1977.

D-17 Thank you for making sense of this mess. Your version is obviously tongue in cheek, but certainly makes more sense than: "it's not terror", "Thai people don't have to worry", "Thailand has good relations with Iran", "issuing security alerts will hurt tourism", and etc. ad nauseum. Iran needs no help embarrassing itself. Having the government run by someone who denies the Holocaust goes a long ways. As usual, the fall guys got nabbed and the real operatives made it back to Iran.

Well, the best solution is to give them each 7.5 millions the same amount as the red shirts member who lost their lives during the chaos in central BKK. In this case they should get a little less because no one died. The current administration already set an example. Just send them back home.

Thailand's Shia leader can't have increased the credibility of himself or the people he represents by propounding this theory. If the bomb suspects were members of the MEK, why have some of them been able to return to Iran without being arrested by the Iranian authorities? If they truly were MEK members, they would be highly unlikely to return to Iran on exiting Thailand.

A terrorist by any other name is still a terrorist. Thailand does not need or deserve to have the radical Muslims bringing their war against the world to Thailand. And the mention of Thailand and Iran having good relations…is that even possible? Does anybody like or trust Iran? They are the source of most of the world’s problems.

Israel want to eliminate the Iran nuclear threat, so does the rest of the region in the middle east.(and the rest of the world for that matter) Armageddon is on the corner when the international community allows that to happen. We, as ordinary citizens, are not aware of the dark world of "spy and fly". All tough we have a right to know what is going on, we will not. Deadly sting operations are ongoing with several players in the field, as well as opportunists who take advantage of the situation at hand and try to play their own agenda. taking into account the "amateurism" scenario in this plot it is more likely the fingerprint of a "opportunist group"then a Iranian government involvement.

Thai security is unfamiliar with terrorist organizations that the rest of the world knows about? Also.... where did The Bangkok Post find the time to write an article citing Mr. Husaini, whose only credibility seems to be his knowledge of the MEK's existence. Of course, it was written by the same person who wrote this gem: "A secret report by Iran’s security agency also indicated that the Iran nationals linked with Bangkok’s latest bomb plot were members of the MEK, reports said."

The bombs in Georgia, India and Bangkok were in direct response for the murders of Iranian scientists in Iran. How the he'll can some obscure Thai cleric link them with the MEK? Please, let's not go down this road! from iPhone application.

Mujahedin-e Khalq (MEK) is the dissident terrorist group thought to have been responsible for the murders of Iranian nuclear scientists and alleged to have been funded and trained by Mossad.
