PAD warns govt on charter bid

Group threatens mass protests, legal action

The People's Alliance for Democracy is threatening legal action and mass rallies in response to the government's charter amendment bid.

Chamlong: ‘PAD won’t tolerate move’

The group vowed to seek the prosecution of those who push for a constitutional rewrite it says is part of attempts to get former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra off the hook.

I think people will get more sick if the government whitewash the fugitive convicted criminal.

Although the PAD represent only 3% according to your estimation, however, they have thrown out 3 governments and they will continue..I hope.

    Discussion 2,
May be you are right, 14 million people do not represent the majority in Thailand. How many votes the PTP got??..do that number represent the Thailand entirely??

Whether the charter amendment is to go ahead or not is to be decided inside the parliament, not by the PAD.

    The photo caption
"Chamlong: ‘PAD won’t tolerate move’" might as well be changed into
"Chamlong: ‘PAD won’t tolerate anything but its own agenda’"
Note the use of the word "tolerate". Horrific!

"...threatening legal action and mass rallies ..."

Despite the PAD representing a very small minority of the Thai people - an estimated 3% - this sounds intimidating, because this minority has proven, time and again, to have more power than the rest of the population. We all know where this may lead too. It seems nothing much has changed.

Meanwhile, Surajit Chirawet, of the Group of 50 Senators, said the three charter amendment bills being pushed by the cabinet, Pheu Thai and its coalition partner Chartthaipattana reflected attempts to influence the judiciary and independent organisations including the National Anti-Corruption Commission and Election Commission.

Re: D1 these were selected by the DP and the military....to protect themselves and the old elite.
and the 14 million people do not represent the majority in Thailand. These people are not interested in a democratic form of government they can only accept a military dictatorship with them in the top tiers of power....any thing other than themselves in power they feel is unfair.

Group of 50 Senators... so who are they... elected or selected and who do they represent ? Rosana Tositrakul is one and we know where she stand but how about the rest ... whose interests are they representing this time ?
