E'BOB D20: "Thaksin himself is far and away the most corrupt INDIVIDUAL in this country's history."

    Everybody knows that is hogwash...

bkposter - any sentence that starts with "Everyone knows..." without any evidence lacks credibility amongst opposing views.
"Everyone knows" who set fire to all those buildings in 2010... except the redshirts.
"Everyone knows" who shot Col Romklao in the back... except Peua Thai.
You claim that "Everyone knows the military is the worst", but many disagree. When Thaksin was in power, corruption in the military simply moved to his cronies and classmates. And Thaksin himself is far and away the most corrupt INDIVIDUAL in this country's history.

GEOFFO D9: "Remember the justification for the last coup was"unendurable corruption"

Incorrect, with due respect. The PRETENSE for the coup was "unendurable corruption".

And yet, the post coup years saw corruption by according to independent analysis and even Thai perspectives.

Corruption has been an integral part of Thai society for many decades. The fact is 20 military coups and/or interventions have not gotten rid of it. One would think by now it has become clear ridding the country of corruption is not the driving force behind the military's continuous interference.

Yes Taksin was (is?) corrupt but what about all the other super rich families at the top of the heap? Capitalism is corrupt, and by reinforcing its link to feudalism (via military force) it does not get better.

I agree with you. 2.0 was a concept introduced by China when they attempted to censor the internet .It was met with great disappointment by Chinese people looking for a truth .Thaksin 2.0 is like Windows .New but not .

Thai mindset is mai pen rai. Also how can we line our pockets with as much as possible.
As for education it should be standard up and down the country, not as it is now. There is no difference to a rural school and a city school. In other countries it is all the same whether in the country or city, the student levels of academic studies should not be different.

Re: D9 Geffo....That was the claimed justification for a coup...but we all know it was bs...Corruption does not stop, it only changes hands. One hand is just as crooked as the next. The art of politics in Thailand is to convince the public that the other side is more corrupt than your own...Everyone knows that the military is the most, and thus there backing of the DP has served to do two things...it gives them the temporary power that they could not get in an election and it perpetuates the peoples mistrust in them so that they can never win. The DP does not like the charter change for one reason and one reason only because their puppet masters in uniform do not like it. TS is always their scapegoat.

'Mr Kittiratt urged the public and private sectors to change their mindset and embrace reform.'

So they must change but not him, the man who attended a secret meeting a few weeks ago.

The best ways to judge if Khun Kittiratt has performed well is simply looking at some economic indicators and not by ranting. The SET has risen 20% which indicates that foreign investors have confidence in our economy. There is no Moody's credit downgrade after the government announced the massive flood mitigation investments and the currency has strengthened. These don't happen naturally but by policies meted by perhaps the best minister of the cabinet, Khun Kittiratt.

It is so frustrating that a leader like Kittirat can make a speech calling for a mindset change and apparently not mention the need to address the mindset that corruption is normal and acceptable in this country. It was the same in the election - nobody mentioned it as a key item. All these people are in denial - about their role as leaders to set an example and take action to rid us of this scourge

'Complacency is the greatest threat to the country's development'.

    Disagree; corruption is.

'The biggest obstacle to our development is how we think.'

Agree; change the mindset that corruption is acceptable and even admired and Thailand would move forward.

It is no coincidence that Singapore, the most prosperous country the area, is also the least corrupt.
