More airport charges laid on PAD bosses

Police action follows threat of mass rallies

More criminal charges have been laid against 46 core leaders of the People's Alliance for Democracy already facing legal action as a result of their occupation of Don Mueang and Suvarnabhumi airports in November 2008.

Flashback: In November 2008, members of the People's Alliance for Democracy (PAD) seized control of Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang airport for more than a week, forcing the cancellation of all flights and inconveniencing tens of thousands of tourists and residents.

Pol Gen Somyot Phumphanmuang, an adviser on security and special affairs to the Royal Thai Police Office, said yesterday that his team would summon 46 PAD suspects to hear additional charges next Friday.

Discusiion 34. I see you didn't answer my question but that is what i expected. I will answer yous though. Yes The yellow shirt leaders should stand trial and recieve the approiate punishment. Just because I am anti red doesn't mean I am pro yellow.
Now maybe you can answer my question now.

Yes the yellow shirts were a group of thugs who threatened national security.
Will you admit the same about the red shirts?

englishbob D40 - Many incorrectly believe the PAD 'never hurt nobody'. If anyone wants to see undeniable proof of otherwise, send me a PM for links. According to the stock market record, and records for tourism, the airport takeover was by far the most damaging to the Thai economy.

Yellow = Gandhi? Now that's funny.

d34: To compare acts of Reds & Yellows are like comparing actions of Hitler & Gandhi.

    Disc34 - Android - of course not.
Because the crimes of PAD were much, much less severe and everyone, even the stupidest farmhand in Isaan, knows that.
They didn't kill anyone, raid any hospitals, burn any buildings, have an armed militia run by a rogue general and the damage to the economy was miniscule in comparison.
PAD deserve punishment for civil disobedience.
UDD deserve punishment for criminal acts and terrorism.

"In your opinions was the red shirt rally last year a peaceful protest?"

    Dear blobber D@35

    "NO"

NEITHER the reds, yellows nor the government were (always) peaceful!!!

Thaksin can have arrested all the opponents he likes in preparation for his grand return, but there will still be mass demonstrations against him, if / when he returns with his crime sheet wiped clean. I don't think that Thaksin should turn off the air-con in his villa when he returns to Bangkok. He'll be back sooner than he thinks. He is too divisive.

Re: D15...I think you are right, and it is impossible to justify why the leaders of one group were jailed quickly and the other group that were friendly to the DP were let go. and if their was ever an abuse of power and a dereliction of duty more blatant I don't know what it could have been other then the DP leadership ordering the use of live ammo to fire into crowds of people.

    Discussion 31.
Peaceful Protest Rally = O.K. (in a Democracy)

In your opinion were the red shirts a peaceful protest.
Actually make that an open question to all the reds out ther.

In your opinions was the red shirt rally last year a peaceful protest?
