A retired English military officer was arrested for allegedly sexually molesting an underage child in Chon Buri’s Bang Lamung district on Saturday.

Norman Wallis, 79, was caught while performing oral sex on a 13-year old boy in a Toyota Vios parked in Phra Tamnak Hill Soi 4 in tambon Nong Prua shortly after midnight, said Kreetha Tankanarat, deputy chief of the investigation centre at Provincial Police Region 3.Residents in the area have complained to police that foreigners like to buy sex from young boys in the neighbourhood, said Pol Lt Col Kreetha, who led the arrest team.Officers said Mr Wallis had called the boy, whose name was withheld, and asked him to dine with him at Jomtien Beach late Friday night. The boy then called his friend to inform him about the man’s invitation. His friend...

BangkokBob might be right, but I very much doubt it. It is a well-known fact that many parents don't have time for parenting and let their kids stay out until all hours. For example, there are often reports in the BP of kids racing motorcycles when kids of their age should be at home, or of young teenagers being in pubs that at raided at 3am. I'd say the odds are that the kid was allowed to be out whenever he wanted, and IF that is so then his parents should be charged with neglect.
Or maybe I'm just being old-fashioned, and you would allow your young teenage kid to stay out after midnight and think that's okay

Bob from Bangkok, D19: is spot on so why don't you just answer his question?

@Disc 19: What if the boy went out at 7 or 8 pm and hadn't come back and his parents were worried about him? Do you know? Clearly, neither you, nor I, nor anyone posting here have all the facts. But you've already decided the parents need to be punished. What should the punishment be? Jail time? Losing the kid? Imagine if the state had to punish every parent whose kid was out too late. We would need to build a helluva lot more prisons. If that's the punishment you intend. Glad you're not a judge.

Dis#16 - The boy was out after midnight. The parents should be punished whether they knew he was a prostitute or not. Would you let your 13-year old out after midnight?

'I hope they kick this old wrinkly fosille out of Thailand and never let him in.'
REALLY?! Is that so he can go somewhere else (like the UK or Cambodia) and freely go back to molesting more boys? I seriously doubt that this is the first time he has ever tried such a thing. It's been proven that such people are incurable and a potential danger to society for as long as they live.

I don't think he'll be getting out of Thailand for quite some time. What ever happened to the infamous Christopher Paul Neal Interpol pedophile? I'm pretty sure he's still in a Thai jail. Cambodia and Vietnam both want him extradited to stand trial. Canada wants him too!

The boy having oral sex performed on him for money was 13 years old. Some commenters are callling for him to be punished because he is a prostitute. Another is calling for his parents to be punished for having their child sell his body to feed their habits. The people makng these comments are pathetic and cruel.

The story doesn't give any information about whether this boy had done this before or knew what he was getting into. Even if he did, he's still a 13-year-old child. Yes, a child. I wonder if some posters would be baying for the whip if the child in question had been a girl.

The story doesn't give any information about whether his parents knew what he was doing or not. And it gives no information about any 'habits' they may or may not have. Yet some are calling for them to be locked up. We all know that some parents abuse and exploit their own children. But even more parents, even relatively good parents, are often unaware when their children first fall into the traps of drug use, alcohol abuse, underage sex and even participating in sex for money.

Some commenters have reached conclusions based on nothing more than their own dirty minds and prejudices.

Sounds like it was a "sting" operation; the police watching and waiting until the pervert was in the act. If it had been in Pattaya a couple of thousand baht would have got him off the hook.

The big issue here is not about some sick old peado or the prostitute he was caught with. It's about the Thai parents of this young prostitute, they are immoral and unethical by more than likely forcing their little kid to go out selling his body to feed their habits.
These parents should be locked away from society for a very long time.

I feel sick reading this article. Everyone Farang or Thai who takes advantage and abuses children should be severly punished. Animals like that are sick and can not be helped. They are a danger to society and to children. I hope they kick this old wrinkly fosille out of Thailand and never let him in. Ofcourse before he is kicked out he must be punished so he never ever come back again.
