Charoen threatens to defy order

Jaturon says injunction is start of coup d'etat

Government MPs are likely to defy the Constitution Court's order for the House to suspend deliberations on a charter amendment bill by proceeding with the last reading of the measure this week.

Charoen: Expects third reading Friday

Deputy House Speaker Charoen Chankomol, of the ruling Pheu Thai Party, said yesterday he expected the House to proceed with the third and final reading of the bill to amend Section 291 of the constitution on Friday.

Discussion 77 banemebkk : Passing of a legislation requires a members' voting inside the parliament, and minority votes must follow the majority vote's decision. This is the simple rule of the game inside the parliament. But unfortunately the DEM party disobeys this ruling and adopts a disgraceful attitude to oppose the majority votes by inciting violence in the parliament.

D64@DomDunn - the base of all legal cases is that there are two sides to the argument - the lawyers of each side are equally convinced they are right - that is how they make money (even if the judgement goes against them). In this case there is clearly more than one interpretation - the judges have already decided (7 to 1) against the interpretation you believe. Argue on if you wish but I wonder what impact it will have?

@Disc 76 Android - If enough members in the parliament voted in favor of TRT, they can change any law they want. Which ever party running the country always have more members in the parliament that are one their side. Did we not see Thaksin change the law to benefit his company so he didn't pay a single satang of tax?

This is whats happening to the reconciliation bill, we know if a vote goes ahead, PTP will get their wish, Thaksin will be home with all charges dropped. And he will brag that he was wronged and never broke any laws.

Discussion 73 brilliant : Thailand's PM like Thaksin cannot change the law by himself. Its the members of the parliament who are the ones to make and modify the legislation. Somebody needs to remind you that parliament is the legislative branch but not the PM.

D63.Ink : Your reasoning makes sense to me. I am also not sure, whether a person can submit a petition to the CC directly. I guess, we have to leave it to the courts interpretations of the laws. We will hear more about this matter soon.

Khun Domdunn #45, democracy ceased to exist in Thailand the moment (PM) TS refused to answer any questions regarding the serious corruption allegations against him, counting on his overwhelming majority in parliament. So, what happened afterward couldn't make our democracy any deader. More over, the protests were getting larger in size with greater intensity when TS left the country just to avoid them. As the situation worsened, the Military had no choice but to reluctantly take control of the country, or risking total anarchy or even a civil war. If TS behaved himself democratically, either to answer the allegations or to resign, there wouldn't be a coup at all. It's cause & effect, and in short, TS blew it and continues to do so until now.

android - "Discussion 66 brilliant : so you dislike Thaksin simply because he altered the immigration/labour laws that made you very difficult to obtain a working visa in thailand!"

Lame try. Actually, my trip to renew my work visa every three years took ten minutes because it was well organized. The typical farang went through hell though. I dislike Thaksin because he feels he is above the law. He can order killings of innocent civilians by the thousands, change laws at will to benefit Shin Corp, hide his assets, etc. The man is as dishonest and narcissistic as they come.

wakeup 32 - "abitrarily rewriting the Constitution to empower yourself extra-legally? Sounds like a coup to me."
Exactly. That's what military coups are all about.

gleentea 30 - "That was the Constitutional Tribunal."
    False. Constitutional Court.

"Cooking on TV was a second job which provided him with a monthly income."
False. He received no income, only reimbursement for expenses.

"That's illegal for a PM and he was certainly aware of this fact as he tried to conceal it."
False. The law was a 'conflict of interest' law, of which cooking on TV was not. How did he conceal himself while on TV?

    "banning TRT, banning PPP,"
Constitutional fraud. Bearing of false witness.

"The person responsible for filing the complaint failed to do so within the legally prescribed time frame."
The filing of the complaints for TRT and PPP also missed the two week deadline.
