Thaksin pins hope on reconciliation

Former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra said his chance of returning to Thailand from self-exile lies with the reconciliation bills which are now with the House of Representatives, according to media reports.

The reports quoted Thaksin, who is currently on a nine-day visit to Japan, as saying this in an interview with Japanese newspaper website <www.yomiuri.co.jp>.

Asked about the chance for him to return to Thailand, Thaksin said he would have to wait for parliament's deliberation of reconciliation bills which are now with the House of Representatives.

    "Quoted out of context"

In line 10 it says that Thaksin "reportedly" said in an interview, in other words this writer doesn't know for sure whether he actually said it or not.

Secondly, it is quite likely that Thaksin spoke in Thai, which was translated into Japanese, then back into Thai and finally into English, so it's anyone's guess what he really said.

Please teach us all why we should bother to make a vote at elections when we should not trust any politician anyway.
And please remember do not complain anybody, if the Dems win an election by promising us all a minimum salary of 1000 Baht per day and free sky train rides for two years and fail to implement these things.

    D19 ANDROID:
IN Every post you made today is the word "NAIVE" and if, like you say all politicians (and you include Thaksin) break their promises, why are you infatuated with him if You know he will break your heart sweetheart?

Maybe he was 'quoted out of context' again but you have to hand it to him, he sets himself some pretty lofty goals. I would be willing to put some money on him returning to the Prime Minister post some time in the future, and also that it would end up being a pretty short-lived stint. He would indeed return to a pre coup landscape, it would be the Thailand of March 2006 that he would find himself governing, and when the reds and yelled descend into a full scale street battle, I'm not quite sure what will happens next.

"Thaksin said he hoped to promote political and business relations between Thailand and Japan during his visit."

A fugitive from the law is now conducting foreign policy.

D19 Android: Comments expressing a dislike of the manipulative practices of TS do not mean the posters has an emotion like hatred. It is peoples opinions about something that effects everyone who lives here. Most opinions happen to be different than yours. Get over it.

Not all politicans are like him. On both sides there are sincere people.

Two weeks ago TS pinned his hopes on busting the courts through bluster and threats.

This week he pretends to pin his hope on amnesty. After this latest flip flop who knows whats next.

I've never seen a man who contradicted himself as often and blatantly as Thaksin. I don't remember weheter these are signs of an advanced stage of paranoia or alzheimer.

Thaksin haters yelled that Thaksin broke his promise and wished to be the PM after returning to thailand. Naive people can never realize that politicians are like this. Examples can be seen from US president candidates who promised the voters to reduce tax if they were elected, but never their promises were fulfilled.
